Pilot

During the past year I took a strengths finder test. This lead me to spend some time trying to define myself and I made an alarming discovery during the process.  While I enjoy my career and employer, I have let that aspect of my life become too much of the overall focus.  I decided I needed to fill my time with more of the other aspects of my life.  The strengths finder revealed that being futuristic is my primary strength.  This means I am always planning for the future and looking ahead.  So after writing a “guest blogger” post for my best friend’s blog, I decided I needed to live in the moment a little more and thought I would give blogging a try.

First things first, a name for the blog.  Multiple names came to mind, but I ultimately decided on “A Leaf in the Breeze”.   This is a name my husband came up with during a random conversation to describe me and has stuck with us through the years.  You may be wondering what the heck does “A Leaf in the Breeze” mean?  As a natural planner, it does seem odd that my husband would call me that and I am not sure that I have a great answer for you.  It stemmed from a dancing leaf in the breeze, which he felt was a way to describe how I wear my heart on my sleeve and am able to go with the flow.  I decided that since everything else is in my life is so structured that this would be the name to help define the rest of me.  My plan for this blog is to be a place to gather my random thoughts.
Here is my first random thought for you.  While riding in the car, I listen to music and depending on who is with me the type of music changes.  Singing is not one of my strengths, nor is knowing the actual words or artist of songs. That doesn’t stop me from singing along to the radio anyway.  My go to type of music is country, but when I am with my husband it is normally some sort of hip-hop.  This creates an added challenge; the words are faster and harder for me to determine.  My ultimate mishap in song lyrics is “roofies in my cheek” instead of “woofers in my jeep”.  After thinking about it, it doesn’t make a lot of sense but when I am caught up in the moment that is what always slips off my tongue.  The other song that currently makes me chuckle everytime I hear it, is Jerrod Niemann’s “Drink to That All Night.” To me it sounds like he is saying “I could drink the fat all night”, which makes absolutely no sense what so ever.  These mishaps have become one of the things that my friends and I share with one another.  One of my friends thought that Beyonce was singing “on a single leg” instead of “All the Single Ladies”.  I would love to hear about your lyric mishaps and  stay tuned for the future randomness of A Leaf in the Breeze.
